This apple crumble is a favorite recipe of volunteer Johnny for the fall season. Warm, comforting, and nostalgic, this easy apple crumble will be a star on your holiday table.
Ingredients/ shopping list:
Apple filling:
- 4 lbs apples (I used honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Almond crumble topping:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons water
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 6 tablespoons unsalted melted vegan butter

Cooking Instructions:
Step 1.
Prepare apple filling. Peel and dice apples. In a large bowl, mix diced apples, lemon juice, sugar, ½ teaspoon salt, and cinnamon. Add to a baking pan, cover with foil, and bake in oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 2.
While apples are baking, prepare crumble topping. Finely chop almonds. Mix together flour, brown sugar, chopped almonds, vanilla, ½ teaspoon salt, water, cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms like wet sand ā not too dry, but not wet like a batter.

Step 3.
Spread crumble over baked apples, and bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 4.
Let cool for 30 minutes, then serve and enjoy!
Johnnyās tip: top with vanilla ice cream and cinnamon before serving!
